What is the difference between Ship To ShredStation and any ShredStation Vaults?

ShredStation Vaults are located in select grocery stores, office supply stores, and mailing service stores. They are intended for the amount of material an average home would accumulate each month. Then while doing your regular errands you can simply drop your material in the ShredStation Vault for secure and convenient shredding. Ship To ShredStation is for those who have multiple file boxes at home or the office and needs a convenient and safe method to destroy them.

Why is Ship To ShredStation better than my personal shredder?

ShredStation or Ship To ShredStation can save you time and "IT'S THE GREEN THING TO DO" Most home shredders take only a few sheets at a time and they often need to be replaced within a year. Another great advantage is that you can feel good that your material is not just going to a landfill. The material is recycled and can return as new paper products. The other concern for some is the safety of children and pets in their home around personal shredders.

How secure are the destruction facilities?

The facilities which your material is received are the most secure in the business. We look to the leaders in overseeing the document destruction industry, NAID (www.naidonline.org). The standards to become NAID Certified are the highest in the industry. These document destruction companies have been shredding sensitive material for hospitals, banks, and the federal government for decades.

How safe is my information once it arrives at the document destruction facility until it is destroyed?

The labels are encoded so once they arrive at the facility it is standard policy to have them destroyed immediately and never opened.

Is shipping our sensitive material to you secure?

Yes, UPS delivers sensitive material all the time to homes and businesses. Their tracking system provides the highest level of security. Every box you ship is tracked from the time it is picked up until it is delivered to the facility. Simply use your tracking number to see where your package is at all times.

How can I be sure my documents are destroyed?

Ship To ShredStation facilities are local licensed and bonded security document destruction companies who have been shredding for hospitals, government agencies, the Department of Defense.

Can any of my items be pieced back together even after shredded?

No, the industrial shredders utilize a Level-3 Security cross-cut shredding process, reducing paper to crisscross cut pieces of confetti providing far greater security than conventional strip-cut shredders.

I don't have a scale at home, how can I be sure my box is not over 30 lbs.?

A 30lb box of paper can be a file box (15"x12"x10") or an old copier paper box. If it is paper it would be difficult to pack over 30 lbs. of paper in this size of box so you can assume you are not over weight. A 65lb box is about 2.5 cubic feet. A common size available in stores is 18"x18"x18".

Can I ship my package via UPS from outside the United States?

Can I place CDs, pill bottles, CD Roms, computers or cell phones in with my paper to be destroyed?

CD's , CD- ROMS and Pill boxes can be recycled with your paper documents, however if you wish to safely dispose of any other electronic media such as computers , cell phones , etc please contact us @ info@shiptoshredstation.com or by phone (215) 638-0852. The only other requirement is that materials must be packed and secured according to UPS's hazardous materials Ground guidelines. See www.ups.com.

When paying for my packages, why does the amount being authorized to my credit card exceed your listed prices?

Your credit card is being authorized for a higher amount in the event that your box weight exceeds your estimate. However, your credit card will be billed based on the actual weight verified by UPS.

Do you surcharge for overweight boxes?

Yes, we surcharge for UPS's overage rate if you send a boxes larger than you ordered based on the actual weight of your package.

Do I need special paper to print a label?

No, the label prints on a plain sheet of office paper.

If I already have an account with UPS, or another shipper can I use my own labels?

No. For security and tracking purposes, we ask that you use Ship To ShredStation's UPS account.

Do we have to remove staples, paperclips, spiral notebooks etc?

No. We shred them with the paper. After the material is shredded, magnets remove the metal and it is recycled.

What do I do if I lose my shipping label before shipping my package?

Return to the ShipTo ShredStation website and re-enter your order and print another shipping label, Your Credit Card will be authorized for each shipping label produced, HOWEVER YOUR CREDIT CARD WILL NOT BE CHARGED UNTIL AFTER YOUR PACKAGE IS DELIVERED TO THE DOCUMENT DESTRUCTION SITE AND DESTROYED.

When I printed out the shipping label the address it is going to does not list ShredStation?

As an added security measure we have a selected group of names that we use in place of the actual facility name. That way it is not obvious the material is being received by a document destruction facility.

What if I can't find my tracking number?

If you enter your e-mail address at the time of placing your order you will receive a confirmation of your order which will provide you with your tracking number in order to track your package. I didn't get my certificate of destruction.
